Here are some pictures from a baby shower I threw for one of my girlfriends who was having a girl! It was fun to get to do girly things and use PINK!!! The shower came together beautifully. See the green tablecloth?? I got it at Goodwill for a few dollars! The quilt you see on the food table was made from designer fabric samples I got from my design job. I actually made (with help) 9 of them in all different colors and we used them at a picnic for the family and close friends on my wedding day. I love to pull them out and use them for different things all these years later.
Banquet tables with chairs arranged casually around them |
Wheat grass grown in square dishes (I think I started them about a week before the shower). Ribbon wrapped around and secured with tape. There is an upside down baby food jar holding up the tea cup. |
More wheat grass planted in my favorite footed bowl. Ignore the slide in the background and pretend I don't have kids:) |
How nice of my rosebush to bloom just at the right time! |
Finger Foods: pesto cream stuffed tomatoes, asparagus wraps, bacon & cheddar pinwheels with avocado, cucmber tea sandwiches |
such a cute shower!!! i LOVE it :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing. You should host baby showers for a living.
ReplyDeleteHey, this is Jenny's friend Christina- BEAUTIFUL! What an eye! Love your design sense.
ReplyDeleteGood stuff Emily! The food looks so pretty and mouth watering. I love the wheat grass and tea pots! So clever. And I think it's so special you use that quilt for fun things like this.
ReplyDeleteComing from the Whipperberry link party... great job! Love the teacup/grass centerpieces!
ReplyDeleteAdorable tablescapes! I love the wheatgrass idea and my have to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteLooks very yummy :) Thanks for sharing. And the grass is a nice touch.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so nice. Great ideas! It would be wonderful if you could post your recipes for your finger food on your blog. Looking forward to trying them out.
ReplyDeleteEverything turned out lovely... and looks yummy! I'd love for you to link it up at Sundae Scoop!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and Inspiring! Thanks for sharing. I am sure your hard work was much appreciated!
ReplyDeleteWow! This is the prettiest shower I have ever seen! You are awesome! Did you make the key lime tarts? If so...care to share the recipe? Key lime is one of my favorite things! :)

Wait...so that's REAL grass!?! Oh my gosh, woman! That is seriously so cool! It only took a week to get that tall? Where did you find wheat grass seeds? And will I need a mini lawnmower? (I kid, I kid.)
ReplyDeletenatalie, yes it is real wheat sprouts. You know, the stuff they juice for people who are health nuts to drink. It isn't wheat seeds, it is actual pieces of wheat...you know, the stuff you get at the cannery and grind to make bread.
ReplyDeleteEm, I think that even though there are tutorials on-line for how to sprout and grow wheat grass, how to make the paper pom poms, etc it is nice to have the link directly from the one who suggests it. Also, recipes for the drinks and foods would also be helpful. I know you did this shower a while ago, but for the things you make in the future if you took pictures along the way that would be helpful to people. I have a hard time really grasping things unless I can see them. Also, even though it is probably intuitive to you how to make chocolate covered strawberries look good, others of us are more challenged - maybe you could do a demo of that. I would probably be a lot to cover all these things in one blog post, but maybe you could cover the tutorials and recipes in separate posts and then link to them from the full party post. Anyway, just ideas, I'm so glad you are doing this!
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job and thanks for posting. I have a Mothers day brunch that I want to sprout some wheat grass for my centerpiece. Looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful party! All the wheatgrass mixed with the white and pink is beautiful. Great job

Hello! Everything at the party looks absolutely beautiful. I clicked on your link at SYS because I want to make some grass centerpieces soon for a social function. I'm going to experiment with rye grass because my husband has a ton of seeds in our storage building! I linked up at SYS too-I'm #434.

Holy CoW! That's fabulous!
ReplyDeleteTruly inspired. I would be truly impressed to attend a shower like this.
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable completly adore the containers with the drinks in them. Questions what type of wheat grass did you use? and where would I be able to find it? I have tried looking for red hard wheat but I am not having any luck also where did you get the glass square contianers?
ReplyDeleteModern Momma,
ReplyDeleteI used Hard White Wheat. You can buy it numerous places...Costco sometimes, some WalMart's (Utah), tons of places online, or if you know any Mormons ask them! They should be able to get you some.
I don't know where we got the containers. They are 10 years old from my wedding. Probably just a craft store like Michael's or JoAnn's.
Found you through my good friend Kimba's Comments, and added your post to my Wheat Grass round up. Thought you wouldn't mind, but let me know. I sent them your way to read the rest of the post. :) I have five kiddos too, but 3 boys, 2 girls. :)
ReplyDeleteOoo-la-la! What a great way to have a baby shower party. This is a feast for the eyes :)
